Music lovers can enjoy performances by the artists over a glass of Bird in Hand wine amongst the picturesque surroundings of the rolling Adelaide Hills.

Neil Finn is one of the world’s greatest song-writing treasures. Ever on the cusp of creative innovation, Finn’s musical genes run deep into the family line. His latest album was co-produced with his son Liam and recorded live in front of an online audience. Finn’s newest incarnation is a full musical collaboration with Liam.

"Liam and I have been dreaming up this record for the last two years. We have a wonderful band assembled to bring it to the stage and are casting the net wide to bring up some old treasures for the setlist,” comments Neil Finn.

Neil and Liam Finn will be performing at Bird in Hand on Friday 16th February.

Gang of Youths were without question the stand-out success story from the 2017 ARIA awards. Taking home three coveted awards on the night - ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Best Group’ and ‘Best Rock Album’ to add to their earlier win of ‘Producer of the Year’ alongside Adrian Breakspear, bringing their tally to four ARIA awards. With a stirring live performance from their current album, they were ‘crowned the kings of the Australian music industry’ according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

2017 has been an immense year for the five-piece from Sydney, with the release of their second album ‘Go Farther in Lightness’, a nod towards the optimism and kindness the band have found by surviving various ordeals. The holiness of love, the chaos and rapture of surviving against all odds, these are what drive Gang of Youths. With singer Dave Le’aupepe’s lyrics drawn from some of the most miserable life experiences available to humanity, and the band’s music taking cues from rock history’s most ambitious and theatrical preachers, Gang of Youths drag the beauty out of everything from hell to high heaven.

Back home in Australia following a European tour, and a move to London, Gang of Youths will be performing at Bird in Hand on Saturday 17th February, and are supported by Sydney’s Middle Kids.

Neil and Liam Finn, Friday 16th February. Price: $119*.<br

The 2017 Bird in Hand sauvignon blanc is the first of this grape variety to be judged the best that was not produced in New Zealand.

Each year, Winestate evaluates around 10,000 wines from Australia and New Zealand with judging panels of winemakers, Masters of Wine and other industry experts.

The 2017 Bird in Hand sauvignon blanc was one of over 500 of the grape variety tasted by experts including New Zealand wine journalist Jane Skilton MW and a line-up of Australian judges.<br

The 2017 Australasian Winestate Awards were presented at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 24th November and Bird in Hand chief winemaker, Kym Milne MW received the award on behalf of the winery.

Kym commented: “The Adelaide Hills has a great reputation for its cool climate wine styles and the cool 2017 vintage produced some excellent sauvignon blancs right across the region. We knew when we produced this vintage that it was something special, but to have that acknowledged by industry experts and peers makes it all the more rewarding.”

On the same day, Friday 24th November, Bird in Hand’s Arneis, part of its Italian series of wines, took home the award for ‘Best Other White’ at the 2017 Adelaide Hills Saint Martin Wine Show.

This week, we unveiled our new sparkling wine, Bird in Hand x House of Holland, a sparkling pinot noir entirely designed by Henry Holland including the slogan “Wine Me Dine Me Please Refine Me” in his signature font with the added touch of a polka dot cork.

To celebrate the launch we hosted a party on the 23rd November at creative hub, The Carousel in central London over an intimate dinner. Guests included pop-star sensations Ella Eyre and Anne-Marie, and fashion industry socialites Jack Guinness, Edie Campbell and Pixie Geldof.

Guests were greeted with a glass of the 2017 Bird in Hand x House of Holland Sparkling Pinot Noir, whilst admiring the intimate set up of log-cabin décor, Pop Art on the walls to complement Holland’s recent Resort 18 collection and flower garlands hung from the ceiling.

A Bird in Hand wine was matched with each course, including the 2016 Bird in Hand Chardonnay and 2013 Nest Egg Shiraz. Before feasting over the likes of jasmine tea breast of lamb, pistachio crusted salmon and hedgerow berry pavlova all 60 seats applauded British singer-songwriter, Anne-Marie who treated guests to an exclusive performance.

The pinot noir grapes used for this wine were exclusively hand-picked from Bird in Hand’s Woodside estate in the Adelaide Hills. The grapes were harvested in the cool early Autumn morning to retain freshness and flavour. The fruit was gently whole-bunch pressed, with just enough skin contact to produce a delicate blush salmon pink colour. The wine was fermented with a champagne yeast before undergoing a second fermentation via the Italian ‘Charmant’ method. The result is a very delicate sparkling wine, with hints of strawberry, red apple and rhubarb on the nose.

The wine is available to purchase through the Bird in Hand cellar door or <a
