Cellar Door

Drinking wine here is different than in other places. The Cellar Door gives our visitors a kind of front row seat to our winemaking works, complete with tutored tastings and wines you can’t drink anywhere else, including late releases and carefully cellared museum selections. Here, you can wander through the original barrel hall, relax in the courtyard overlooking the vines, taste our olive oil, or enjoy bites of cheese and antipasti. Be inspired by our carefully curated artwork, or peruse our range of luxury collection items, which is available for sale here.

The Cellar Door is open daily:
Monday to Friday: 10am — 5pm
Weekends & Public Holidays: 11am — 5pm
Closed Christmas Day.


Regional platters
A selection of seasonal, regional platters are available to share on our terrace or in the Barrel Hall seven days a week from 11am-4pm.

We offer a cheese platter featuring 3 cheeses with accompaniments for $40. An antipasto platter featuring cured meats, cheese, marinated olives, dips, pickled vegetables, flat bread and lavosh for $60. A vegetable mezze platter featuring seasonal vegetables, dips, cheese, olives, frittata, flat bread and lavosh for $50.

Please note the produce on our platters changes weekly depending on seasonal availability of ingredients, and the aforementioned descriptions are a guide only. We recommend 1 platter between 2 people. Bookings are essential, especially on weekends and can be made online following the below link or by calling our Cellar Door on 08 8389 9488.

The Bird Experience Tasting

The Bird Experience is for those who want to linger a little while longer, explore a little further, and take their time over some of our favourite Bird in Hand wines. Take a seat in our barrel hall and settle in as one of the Bird in Hand wine experts guides you through an intimate tasting of some of our premium wines – at your own pace. This tasting includes four Bird in Hand wines, one Italian range and one museum wine. Price: $20 per person. Maximum 8 guests

The Chardonnay May Flight

Purely for the month of May, our wine experts will guide you through an intimate tasting of Bird in Hand's Chardonnay portfolio. This tasting includes four distinct wines cross the Two in the Bush, Bird in Hand, Nest Egg and Tribute Series range. Price: $25 per person. Maximum 8 guests

The Italian Series Tasting

A seated tasting featuring five of our Cellar Door-only Italian varietal wines. These two whites, two reds and one rosé, in a distinct, elegant bottle created by fashion designer Dion Lee, have become firm favourites for visitors to the winery. The tasting per person is $20, maximum of 8 guests and also includes the Bird in Hand sparkling pinot noir, house-baked sourdough and olives. 


Nest Egg Tasting

Taste a selection of iconic wines in a reserved and private area, with our astute staff delivering the finer nuances of our beautifully crafted creations from the Nest Egg collection. Price : $30 per person. Maximum 8 guests

For The Bird Experience and Nest Egg tastings, booking is essential. Enhance your tasting experience further with prearranged platters (at an additional charge).

Flight Club members can enjoy complimentary tasting of The Bird Experience and a reduced price of $15 per person for the Nest Egg tasting. 


Tribute Series Tasting

This tasting is an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in a truly exceptional Bird in Hand experience. Guided by one of the expert winemakers, the Tribute Series is tailored, personalised tasting encompassing some of our finest vintages. Six wines are offered, including the 2007 Lalla Victoria sparkling pinot noir, the MAC Shiraz, Marie Elizabeth Cabernet Sauvignon, and other en primeur and museum wines rarely brought out to sample. Guests will also be taken on an intimate tour of the winery, and a tasting of yet to be released wines straight from the barrel. 

The price is $150 per person and includes a number of seasonal tasting dishes curated by the chef to match the wines chosen on that day. Maximum 8 guests

Due to the bespoke nature of the Tribute Series Tasting, seven days' notice is required.
