Bird in Hand celebrates 10 years
In winter 2001, the Premier launched Bird in Hand wines at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Ten years later our wine has won countless international awards and is available in over 42 countries around the world.
Not only is Bird in Hand winning international awards for wine excellence - our second cellar door in China has just opened, we are distributing world class wines from every corner of the globe and our Adelaide Hills' home is fast becoming one of South Australia’s premier event venues.
Executive Director and Founder, Andrew Nugent, says
"our original goal for Bird in Hand was to build one of the world's great wineries. In working towards achieving this, we have become so much more. We are now an international lifestyle brand that is synonymous with excellence."
With a swag of international accolades, our great winemaking team led - by Nugent and Kym Milne MW - is well on the way to achieving this original goal. This year alone, Bird in Hand has won International Wine Challenge trophies for Best Australian Red, and Best Australian Shiraz; a Decanter World Wine Award Trophy for Shiraz; a 5 star Decanter Award for Australia’s Best Chardonnay, as well as countless trophies and gold medals across the range.
“I’m really proud of what our team has achieved in the last ten years. Whether it is the latest vintage, concerts amongst the vines, wedding parties or opera in the barrel hall, we are constantly praised for over delivering on the Bird in Hand experience,” said Andrew.
The wineries transformation over the last decade into a world-class venue is complete. We are delighted to be booked months in advance for so many fantastic weddings and events and to host top international artists for indoor and outdoor concerts. September 17 sees Australian pop quintet Architecture in Helsinki perform live in the Barrel Hall - with the February 2012 Outdoor Concert soon to be announced.
